Mihalek: 40th District Neighborhoods Win Big in Grant Round

December 18, 2025

HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) today announced more than $1 million in Local Share Account grants were awarded to several local governments within the 40th Legislative District, supporting infrastructure projects and community development projects.

The grants, under the Local Share Account program, support economic development, job training, community improvement and public interest projects through gaming funds collected under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 71 of 2004).

“Our local officials work hard to keep taxes reasonable, while also delivering on the community projects our families deserve,” said Mihalek. “I can think of no better use of these dollars than to see these projects advance.”

Mihalek acknowledged the work of her colleagues in the General Assembly, such as Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-Allegheny), who called the grants a reflection of “our commitment to strengthening communities, improving public safety, and supporting local governments and nonprofits in their efforts to serve residents.”

Grants awarded to the 40th Legislative District include:

Municipality of Bethel Park - $662,198 to repair or replace sewer pipe at 100 Acres Drive, reducing infiltration at the Piney Fork Treatment Plant.
Municipality of Bethel Park - $59,637 to upgrade the audiovisual capabilities of meeting and event spaces at the Bethel Park Community Center.
Upper St. Clair Township - $165,604 to enhance the recently renovated Upper St. Clair Library by installing new, ADA-compliant shelving that improves accessibility and organization.
Peters Township - $292,198 to extend a sewer line along Church Hill Road, improving a pipe that serves 200 existing customers and adding 43 new properties.
